Recent advances in the pathophysiology and management of sepsis: a review

Sepsis is a syndrome consisting of physiological, pathological and biochemical anomalies caused by infectious agents. It causes clinical organ dysfunction, which identified an acute increase in the Sequential (sepsis-related) Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score two or more points. SOFA three components that can be easily used at bedside to track status patient while on admission, these are altered respiratory rate ≥ 22 breaths/minute, mental status, systolic blood pressure ≤ 100 mmHg. A with 2 has attributable - 25-fold increased risk mortality compared ˂ 2. This present review provides information new definition sepsis septic shock, aetiology, pathophysiology, biochemical, haematological changes, morbidity parameters, management, andprognostic factors patients sepsis.
